Reiki FAQs -
How does Reiki work with yoga?
Reiki is an excellent complement to yoga especially Ashtanga Yoga. The unconscious mind stores repressed emotions in various parts of the body. As a result, there are physical imbalances in the body, sometimes resulting in pain and illness. Practicing Ashtanga Yoga brings these imbalances and emotions to the surface as you move through the system of asanas. Reiki helps push out the stagnant old energy that has surfaced, replacing it with divine energy through the Reiki practitioner.
How is it administered?
Reiki is administered by the gentle laying of hands on your body while you relax, fully clothed, on a massage table. The therapist channels divine energy from him or herself into your body typically working from head-to-toe, to activate the natural healing processes of the your body and restore physical and emotional well-being.
What will I experience in a session?
Reiki is deeply soothing and relaxing to receive as it eases stress, tension and pain. Typically, clients feel calm and relaxed. Clients may also feel various physical sensations and/or emotions during session. However, no two sessions will be the same.
How often should I get Reiki?
While any amount of Reiki will be beneficial, it is recommended that you start off with 3 sessions within a 4-6 week period.
Who can be a Reiki practitioner?
Anyone can be attuned to deliver Reiki by a Reiki Master and Teacher. However, it is recommended that you have a few sessions of Reiki to experience the benefits of Reiki before beginning an attunement class. There are three levels of Reiki practitioner and you will be able to give Reiki to yourself and others, after completing a Level 1 class and administer “distance healing” to others after a Level 2 class. After completing a Level 3 class, you will be a Reiki Master/Teacher.
Is Reiki a religion?
Although Reiki energy is spiritual in nature, Reiki is not a religion. Practitioners are not asked to change any religious or spiritual beliefs they may have. They are free to continue believing anything they choose and are encouraged to make their own decisions concerning the nature of their religious practices.
Have you met Yoda?
Yoda is the jeidi master--YES. He checks yogis through for class (unless he's sleeping, which happens a lot). Yoda, on behalf of all of the animals, asks that you please not wear fur to the Buddha B Yoga Center. He says we are a cruelty-free zone. For more information about the brutality involved in killing animals for their skins go to: http://www.peta.org/

Thank you.

Meet Abby Dobbs Forrest Yoga teacher and massage therapist!

Abby's yoga journey began when she discovered the immense passion that was brought forth exploring Forrest Yoga with her teacher and mentor Ana Forrest. After completing her first 200hr teacher training through Forrest Yoga, she was given the opportunity to go further in another 200hr training with Natasha Rizopoulos of YogaWorks. Through a dynamic and mindful combination of poses in Abby’s classes, you will have fun, get sweaty, and most importantly, breathe deeply. Abby is so grateful for the opportunity to share her passion and delight of yoga to her students, both the physical asana, and the deeper philosophical, emotional, and spiritual aspects.
