Guidelines in the yoga studio are meant to support and enhance a peaceful yoga experience for you and your fellow yogis.
1. Prior to entering the yoga studio and the spa, please remember to turn off all cell phones and other electronic devices. Your yoga practice is a time to set aside your concerns and your distractions at the studio door and to focus on your inner self. Absolutely NO cell phones in the studio space.
2. Please arrive for class at least ten minutes early. Arriving early gives you a chance to set up your mat, enjoy the silence and to chill before the class begins. It is also a sign of respect for your fellow yogis and for the teacher. Although you can reserve a spot in class on-line, you will not be admitted if you arrive 5 minutes late or more; you will have missed the centering and the warm-up, which help to ensure a safe and enjoyable yoga practice. No exceptions will be made.
3. If seated meditation and/or chanting has already begun, please wait quietly in the reception room for the teacher to finish their opening remarks. The front desk staff will usher you in quietly. No mat slaps, please.
4. Please remove your shoes upon entering the reception area. Yoga is traditionally practiced barefoot, so we recommend removing your socks as well.
5. In order to optimize practice space, please use the designated storage areas to place personal belongings. Buddha B Yoga is not responsible for any loss, theft or damage of personal items. And please, don't forget your water bottles. We are steadily building a collection of abadoned water bottles.
6. Be aware of your neighbors while practicing. Stagger your mat, and please do not walk on others’ mats when setting up.
7. If you have any medical conditions (including pregnancy) and/or injuries relevant to your yoga practice, please let your teacher know. Take rest as needed in class; yoga is neither competiton nor comparison, so follow the wisdom of your own body and mind.
8. Try not to eat a heavy meal 2-3 hours prior to taking class. Otherwise, twists and backbends might feel unusually uncomfortable.
9. Please no chewing gum in the studio or during class. We would not want you to choke on the gum while doing advanced backbends!
10. Please avoid wearing heavy scents or perfumes. Some students are very sensitive to chemicals in these products. It is also traditional to shower before and after class.
11. Ask your teacher for any modifications.
12. Praciticing full inversions (headstand and shoulderstand) are generally and traditionally not recommended during the first few days of menstruation.
13. If you need to leave practice early, please let your teacher know before class begins, and remember to take a few moments in Savasana (final relaxation pose) before exiting class. Please do not leave right before or during the class savasana and final seated meditation practice—they are two of the most important parts of a yoga practice.
14. Please store neatly and return props to their proper place after class. If you sweat profusely, please clean up after yourself. We have mat wash available to clean your mats after those intense vinyasa classes.
Have you met Yoda?
Yoda is the jeidi master--YES. He checks yogis through for class (unless he's sleeping, which happens a lot). Yoda, on behalf of all of the animals, asks that you please not wear fur to the Buddha B Yoga Center. He says we are a cruelty-free zone. For more information about the brutality involved in killing animals for their skins go to: http://www.peta.org/

Thank you.

Meet Abby Dobbs Forrest Yoga teacher and massage therapist!

Abby's yoga journey began when she discovered the immense passion that was brought forth exploring Forrest Yoga with her teacher and mentor Ana Forrest. After completing her first 200hr teacher training through Forrest Yoga, she was given the opportunity to go further in another 200hr training with Natasha Rizopoulos of YogaWorks. Through a dynamic and mindful combination of poses in Abby’s classes, you will have fun, get sweaty, and most importantly, breathe deeply. Abby is so grateful for the opportunity to share her passion and delight of yoga to her students, both the physical asana, and the deeper philosophical, emotional, and spiritual aspects.
